After months of trying to get the best spot outdoors to photograph my paintings, I finally decided to get a professional photographer to do the job for me. With 2 dozen paintings as backlog, it was a arduous full-day job.
Paying for good photography services is a good investment. From these images I can reproduce my paintings into limited edition giclee prints which I sell on eBay quite successfully.
I am very happy with this set of images, and will upload images to illustrate the details the camera has captured.
Basic equipment needed is
1. Soft boxes with pure white light bulbs. There are 4 boxes used in this session and there are 6 bulbs in each box.
2. A good DSLR camera.
3. Software to process images in the RAW
4. tripods, etc.
Since my paintings are glossy, extra care was taken to position the lights in order to neutralize glare.
It would be a lot more cost effective to learn how to Photograph Your own Artwork. It requires more than skill in using a camera. A good image editing software like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3
,are necessary. There are books from which to learn to use these too.
